Grassroots emerged in 2005 as one voice of the citizenry suffering from rustbelt symptoms of fragmented governments and suburban sprawl. The initiative published the Dayton Declaration of Interdependence and today, continues to build constituency and power to addresss the importance of a healthy environment to a healthy economy.

Grassroots focuses on several projects to revitalize the Dayton region. One of the most notable: "The Dayton Promise" is envisioned to pay for the education of any Dayton child who makes the grade and wants to go to a public Ohio university.
